Ellinwood Hospital & Clinic now offers Direct Access Lab Testing so you can purchase common lab tests without a provider’s order and get results fast. It’s a convenient and affordable way to monitor your health between visits or before seeing your provider.

Direct Access Lab Testing Hours:
Tuesdays from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Thursdays from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m.
How it Works:

Choose your test(s). Review the test menu below.

Walk in (no appointment needed) Tuesday from 1 - 3 p.m. and Thursday from 8 - 10 a.m. at the EHC Laboratory.

Check in & pay at the desk (self pay).

Get tested—most collections take just a few minutes.

Receive results securely. Your lab results will be mailed to you within 48 business hours. Please note that your results will not be sent to your physician. It is your responsibility to follow up with your provider.

Payment Information
Direct Access Lab Testing is self-pay only at the time of service. We do not bill insurance. We accept major cards, digital wallets, cash and check. Pricing is per test.

Always consult your provider to interpret results in the context of your health. The lab does not send Direct Access Lab results to your provider. It is your responsibility to follow up with your PCP.
Lab Test Information
This guide provides an overview of common lab tests, what they measure, and why they are
often ordered.
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
Measures red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelets. Helps detect
anemia, infection, and other blood disorders.
Iron Panel (Iron, TIBC, Ferritin)
Evaluates iron levels, how well iron is transported in the blood, and how much iron is stored in
the body. Helps diagnose iron deficiency, anemia, or iron overload.
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)
Measures blood sugar, kidney and liver function, and electrolyte balance. It helps monitor
overall health and detect conditions like diabetes, liver disease, or kidney disease.
Lipid Panel
Measures cholesterol (LDL, HDL) and triglycerides. Used to evaluate risk for heart disease and
stroke.
Glucose, Serum
Checks blood sugar levels at the moment of the test. It can be used to screen for or monitor
diabetes. May be ordered fasting or non-fasting.
Hemoglobin A1C
Reflects your average blood sugar over the past 2–3 months. Commonly used to diagnose or
monitor diabetes.
PSA – Screening
Prostate-Specific Antigen test for men. Helps screen for prostate problems, including
enlargement, infection, or cancer.
TSH
Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone test. Helps check how well your thyroid gland is working and
screen for underactive or overactive thyroid.
Free T4
Measures the active form of thyroid hormone in your blood. Often ordered along with TSH to
give a clearer picture of thyroid function.
Magnesium
Important mineral for nerve function, muscle contraction, and heart rhythm. Low or high
magnesium levels can cause health problems.
Uric Acid
Measures uric acid levels, which can build up in the body. High levels may cause gout or kidney
stones.
Serum Pregnancy
A blood test that can detect pregnancy earlier than a urine test.
Blood Collection Fee
Covers the cost of drawing your blood and processing samples.
UA Dipstick (Urinalysis)
Checks urine for sugar, protein, blood, or signs of infection. Helps screen for kidney disease,
urinary tract infections, or diabetes.
Urine Pregnancy
A urine test to detect pregnancy. Often used as a quick and reliable first step.
